Medical university - pleven (bulgarian: медицински университет — плевен, meditsinski universitet — pleven) is one of the four medical universities in bulgaria. It is the only university in pleven and was founded in 1974 on the basis of the former regional hospital established in 1865.

The university unifies a large modern preclinical base, a hospital with specialised clinics, and research sections. It has three faculties, the faculty of medicine covering the subjects of medicine and rehabilitation and occupational therapy, the faculty of pharmacy covering the subjects of pharmacy and drug development and the faculty of public health covering health care, as well as a college. There are also two hostels with a total of 315 beds in two- and three-bed rooms.

In 1997 the university added an english language medicine programme designed for international students. This was the first english language medicine programme in bulgaria. As of the 2000s, medical university pleven has had 4081 bulgarian and 582 foreign students from 45 countries, and has about 750 new students every year, of which 2/3 are bulgarians and the rest foreigners, 50-60% of whom are from india. Since bulgaria's accession to the european union in 2007, most international students originate from other eu member states.

ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY


To be eligible for admission to the medical university of pleven in bulgaria, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Secondary school diploma: you must have completed secondary school and have a diploma or school leaving certificate. 
  • Biology and chemistry grades: you must have a minimum average of 62% in both biology and chemistry on your secondary school leaving certificate. 
  • Biology and chemistry entrance exam: you must pass the university's entrance exam in biology and chemistry. 
  • Eligibility letter: you must have an eligibility letter from your school. 
  • Medical certificate: you must have a medical certificate. 
  • Translated documents: if your documents are not in bulgarian, they must be translated and legalized by the relevant authorities. 
  • Passport-sized photos: you must provide four recent passport-sized color photos. 
  • Id or passport: you must provide a copy of your id or international passport. 
  • English certificate: if english is not your first language, you must provide an english certificate at level b2 or higher.

SCHOLARSHIP

The medical university of pleven in bulgaria does not offer scholarships to new applicants. However, students may be eligible for scholarships and financial aid from the bulgarian government or other organizations.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION

To be admitted to the medical university of pleven (mup) in bulgaria, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Academic records: your academic records, including transcripts 
  • Entrance exam certificates: certificates from any entrance exams you've taken 
  • English proficiency scores: proof that you can read and write in english, such as an ielts or toefl score 
  • Health certificates: proof of good health 
  • Financial proof: proof that you can pay for your tuition 
  • Letter of recommendation: a letter of recommendation from a relevant professional 
  • Valid passport: a passport that's valid for the duration of your studies 
  • Passport size photographs: photographs that meet passport size requirements 

Mup is a public university that offers a six-year medical program. The program includes two years of pre-clinical study, three years of clinical study, and one year of internship.
