Grodno state medical university (educational establishment “grodno state medical university” – grsmu; belarusian: установа адукацыi гродзенскі дзяржаўны медыцынскі універсітэт — грдму) is a university in grodno, belarus. It specialises in medicine and medical psychology. It is the oldest medical school in belarus and is considered, according to some international sources, the best medical university in belarus

Grsmu is the successor of the first medical school in belarus, the grodno medical academy, established in 1775 by antoni tyzenhaus, former mayor of grodno, to improve the almost nonexistent healthcare system in the city. Jean-emmanuel gilibert, french botanist, freemason and medical doctor, became its first rector. Under his rule were trained first doctors (former illiterate peasants) built a botanical garden and a chemist's shop. The academy in 1781 was reorganized into the medicine faculty of vilna university. The medical school was renovated only during soviet-era time in 1958. Firstly, it was a small university. Officially got its university status only in 2000.

ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY


To be eligible for admission to grodno state medical university in belarus, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • Age: be between 17 and 25 years old on the date of admission 
  • High school diploma: have a high school diploma or equivalent with physics, chemistry, biology, and english as subjects 
  • Academic performance: have a minimum aggregate of 50% in physics, chemistry, and biology 
  • Neet: pass the national eligibility cum entrance test (neet) if you are an indian student 
  • English or russian proficiency: be proficient in either english or russian 
  • Entrance exam: pass the university's entrance exam 
  • Interview: may be required to participate in an interview process 

Additional requirements

  • If you are from an sc/st/obc category, you must have secured at least 45% in the above-mentioned subjects 
  • You may need to provide your 10th and 12th mark sheets, transfer certificate, passport size photographs, passport, migration certificate, medical insurance, medical report, and visa fees
