Ural State University (USU) is a public university in Yekaterinburg, Russia. It was founded in 1920 by Vladimir Lenin. USU is one of the oldest universities in the Middle Urals.

History:

In 1936, the university was named after Russian author Maxim Gorky.
In 1991, the university established the first Institute of Russian Culture in the USSR.
In 2009, the Ural Federal University was established on the basis of the Ural State Technical University.
